Coaches want more training on how to address young athletes' mental health
Education Week
As the youth mental health crisis deepens, a majority of youth sports coaches say they want more training on how to support their athletes’ mental health. That’s according to a survey by the Aspen Institute, Ohio State University, philanthropic organization the Susan Crown Exchange, and Nike.
The survey found that only 18 percent of coaches say they feel confident that they know how to connect their athletes to mental health supports, and just 19 percent said they are confident they can identify off-field stressors for athletes.

Creating an athlete for life
STACK
The value of sport in the development of a child offers a litany of invaluable lessons and attitudes that transfer into life skills – things like teamwork, loyalty, etiquette, courtesy, socialization and sportsmanship. Furthermore, being involved in sports can mean a reduction in the likelihood of their getting tangled up in less-desirable activities, as there isn’t as much idle time needing to be filled. Finally, building a robust base, or “library,” of physical literacy and abilities sets them up for a healthier life as they move through adolescence, adulthood, and their senior years.

What you need to know about strength training for power
Very Well Fit
Chances are, you learned about power in physics class—it’s the product of speed and force. Exercises that are good for your bone health
KPC News
One of the many benefits of exercise is that exercise was good for bones. But are all types of exercise helpful?
Many factors determine bone health including genetics, nutritional status, exercise activity, macro- and micronutrient intake, hormonal status, chronic inflammation, and medication use.
It is generally accepted that bone-loading activities increase bone formation through the activation of certain cells in the bones called osteocytes, which serve as mechanosensors and sense bone loading.
