New Jersey American Water to invest $2.5M in Middletown infrastructure

New Jersey American Water announced yesterday that it will replace approximately 9,820 feet of aging water main in the Port Monmouth section of Middletown. The project also includes replacing two fire hydrants and 186 utility-owned service lines along the pipeline route.

Report: 482 New Jersey bridges are structurally deficient

A new report from a road contractors' lobbying group lists 43,578 bridges across the country that are "structurally deficient" and in danger of collapsing. The report from the American Road and Transportation Builders Association, based on data downloaded Jan. 3, lists 482 structurally deficient bridges in New Jersey.

Renewable energy plant in Linden ready for construction

A New Hampshire-based developer has secured the city, county and state Department of Environmental Protection permits needed to start construction on a large organic waste anaerobic digester project in the city.
RNG Energy Solutions LLC, a developer of complex energy infrastructure projects, has completed the development phase of the Linden Renewable Energy (LRE) Project that will be built on a 21-acre site in an industrialized section on Tremley Road.

Engineers are building bridges with recycled wind turbine blades

On a former train track bed connecting the towns of Midleton and Youghal in County Cork, Ireland, workers recently excavated the rusted remains of an old railway bridge and installed a pedestrian one in its place. The bridge would have been an unremarkable milestone in the development of a new pedestrian greenway through the Irish countryside, if not for what it's made of: recycled wind turbine blades.

Public transit funding becomes available through new infrastructure law

The Federal Transit Administration recently announced that more than $4.7 billion in transit formula funding is now available to transit agencies, states and tribal governments to support public transportation.
"From counties with just one van providing rides, to systems operating hundreds of trains, buses and ferries in the largest cities in America, our communities depend on this funding, which is increasing significantly thanks to the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law," FTA Administrator Nuria Fernandez said in a statement.
