ACA Submits Amicus Brief in Texas Supreme Court Case, Occidental Chemical Corporation v. Jason Jenkins
Occidental Chemical Corporation v. Jason Jenkins presents the concern that prior owners of realty who make permanent improvements are retroactively held liable, but are powerless to maintain, update, or remove the improvements or to train third parties on how to properly use them.
ACA Submits Comments to EPA on Framework for Expanding Lead RRP
ACA has provided the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) comments and testimony on a variety of regulatory rule-makings centered on lead-based paint hazards and feasible control strategies that might be integrated into expanded requirements under the agency’s Renovation, Remodeling and Painting (RRP) Rule – which currently only covers residences and child-occupied facilities — but expansion is aimed at public and commercial buildings.
Residential Permitting Activity Continues its Recovery from the Recession
Residential permitting activity, as measured by the valuation of permits for privately owned housing, continues its recovery from the recession. Overall, the value of permits for all housing rose to $17.36 billion, which is an all-time high. The value of permits for the first four months of 2014 was over $58 billion, a 9 percent rise over the same period in 2013. The value of single family home permits rose 4 percent in the first four months of 2014 compared with the same period in 2013, but permitting for large multi-family projects was particularly strong, with the value of permits for projects of 5-units and higher rising 36 percent in the first four months of 2014 over the same period in 2013, with a total value again approaching $4 billion (the all-time high was December’s total of over $4.2 billion). Note that while not all housing is captured by permit authorizations, the Census Bureau indicates that 95 percent of the U.S. population resides in permit-issuing jurisdictions.
IMO Adopts IPPIC-NACE Ballast Tank Treatment Test Method
