Industrial applications of adhesives and sealants are subject to air quality regulations in the states and local air districts in California. There is no national rule for industrial adhesives and sealants. Rule 1168 remains the most stringent regulation for industrial adhesive applications, and it has been embraced by the Green Building community as the "standard" for adhesives and sealants in the construction of new buildings.

ACA will host its Coatings Industry Policy Summit Oct. 10-11, 2017 at the Marriott Metro Center in Washington, D.C. The summit will bring together members of industry and members of Congress to discuss the paint and coatings industry, the value it brings to the American and global economies, and other pertinent industry topics. Samantha Dravis, Senior Counsel and Associate Administrator for EPA’s Office of Policy, will address Regulatory Reform at the summit.

The American Coatings Association, in partnership with Vincentz Network, is issuing a call for papers to be presented at the American Coatings Conference 2018. This major technology forum for the coatings industry will take place April 9-11, 2018 in Indianapolis, Ind., and is held in conjunction with the American Coatings Show. Dr. Barry Snyder, senior vice president and chief technology officer at Axalta Coating Systems, will deliver the conference’s keynote address. Companies, as well as academic, governmental, and research institutes, are invited to submit abstracts detailing high-level technical contributions that highlight advancements important to coatings, as well as printing inks, adhesives, and sealants.

Angus Wurtele, former Valspar CEO, passed away on Sept. 3 at age 83. Wurtele was a great statesman for industry and generous arts donor.
