ACA Member Webinar: Update on Nationwide Alternatives Assessment
This one-hour webinar on Nov. 19 at 1:00 pm (EST) will provide an update on nationwide efforts on Alternatives Assessment, a process for identifying and comparing potential chemical and non-chemical alternatives that can be used as substitutes to replace chemicals or technologies of high concern. This webinar will cover the regulatory use of alternatives assessments — including the Washington State Department of Ecology, California Department of Toxic Substances Control, and U.S. EPA's Safer Choice/Sustainable Futures — as well as the use of alternative assessments in product design. ACA Member Webinar: Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration Update
This one-hour webinar on Dec. 3 at 1:00 pm (EST) will provide an overview of recent Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration changes. FMCSA is lead federal agency responsible for regulating and providing safety oversight of commercial motor vehicles. The webinar will address FMCSCA's recently published Hours of Service Final Rule, and amendments to the Motor Carrier Safety Assistance Program. Recent DOT Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration changes will be discussed, as well. ACA members must use their login credentials to register.

ACA Member Webinar: GreenSeal GS-11 Revision
This one-hour webinar on Jan. 7, 2021 at 1:00 pm (EST) will provide a preview of proposed updates to Green Seal’s Standard for Paints, Coatings, Stains, and Sealers (GS-11), as well as an opportunity to engage with the non-profit in its standard development. Proposed updates to the standard include adding a VOC emissions evaluation requirement for interior paint products, as well as adopting the California's Air Resources Board (CARB) definition of VOCs and CARB’s Suggested Control VOC content limits. Safety Awards will be presented to ACA corporate members for safety performance based on a plant's eligibility. Certificates and announcements will be sent out early in 2021, and recipients will be recognized on ACA’s website and in CoatingsTech magazine. Obituary: Louis F. Savelli
ACA is saddened by the passing of Louis F. Savelli, a great industry leader who passed away on Nov. 7, 2020. The former president of DuPont Automotive began his professional career at the DuPont Company in 1959, as a chemical engineer in the research and development division and was promoted consistently within the company until his retirement in 2001. Savelli was active in ACA activities many years, serving on the association’s Board of Directors, Budget and Finance Committee, Industrial Coatings Committee, Executive Committee, and as Chairman of the Board in 1996 and 1997. In 1998, Savelli received the George Baugh Heckel Award, the association’s highest honor.
