Increased (AIM) VOC Regulation Activities Around the States and in California Air Districts

From July 23: Several Northeastern states in the Ozone Transport Commission (OTC) and local California Air Districts have recently proposed amendments, or will likely propose amendments next year, to their regulations governing volatile organic compound (VOC) limits in architectural and industrial maintenance (AIM) coatings.

House Passes Waters of U.S. Regulatory Overreach Bill

From Sept. 17: On Sept. 9, the U.S. House of Representatives passed H.R. 5078, the Waters of the United States Regulatory Overreach Protection Act, by a vote of 262–152.

Vermont Legislature Passes Bill to Regulate Chemicals in Children's Products

From May 28: After a heated battle in the Statehouse, on May 9, the Vermont State Legislature narrowly passed S. 239, a bill to regulate chemicals found in children's consumer products. The bill was passed with a vote by the Senate of 26–3 and is expected to be signed into law by Gov. Peter Shumlin.

ACA Submits Comments to OSHA on Respirable Crystalline Silica Proposed Rule

From Feb. 19: The proposed rule would lower the permissible exposure limit (PEL) to 50 micrograms of respirable crystalline silica per cubic meter of air for both general industry and construction worksites.

ACA Petition Seeks Relief from OSHA Implantation Dates for Labels and SDS

From Aug. 20: ACA along with eight other trade associations has sent a letter to the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) petitioning the agency to provide relief from the implementation dates for labels and Safety Data Sheets (SDS) under the Hazard Communication Standard (HCS) for chemical product formulators.
