SCAQMD Heeds ACA Comments for Rule 1107 Amendments, Revision Process Continues
From July 11, 2012: The air quality objective of Rule 1107 is to reduce volatile organic compound emissions from the use of metal coatings. The rule applies to all metal coatings operations except those performed on aerospace assembly, magnet wire, marine craft, motor vehicle, metal container and coil coating operations.

Rhode Island House and Senate Pass PaintCare® Bill, Signature Expected from Governor
From June 13, 2012: If enacted, Rhode Island would become the fourth state after Oregon, California and Connecticut to embrace the PaintCare® program — the ACA and industry-conceived platform for the proper and effective management of postconsumer paint.

Canada Designates Four Substances as 'CEPA-Toxic'
From Jan. 11, 2012: ACA has worked closely with the Canadian Paint and Coatings Association to ensure comprehensive industry input on the emerging proposals, with ACA's Product Stewardship Committee submitting comments on select substances of each batch of substances.

Industrial Solvent Cleaning Rules Move Forward in the States
From Feb. 22, 2012: Many states have established, or are in the process of adopting, industrial solvent cleaning regulations that could impact coatings, ink, adhesive and resin manufacturing operations. ACA Offers an Overview of SCAQMD Rule 1113 for AIM Coatings in a New VLC
From Feb. 22, 2012: Rule 1113 is applicable to any person who supplies, sells, markets, offers for sale, or manufactures any architectural coating in California's South Coast Air Quality Management District that is intended to be field-applied to stationary structures or their appurtenances, and to fields and lawns; as well as any person who applies, stores at a worksite, or solicits the application of any architectural coatings within the district.

China and Singapore Implement GHS Labeling Requirements
From March 7, 2012: China's new labeling requirements differ from those of other countries, which allow products to enter the country and be relabeled; the new Chinese labeling requirements mandate that products must be labeled in Chinese prior to distribution and arrival in China.
