EPA Publishes Proposal to Retain 2015-Set Ozone NAAQS

The existing primary (health-based) and secondary (welfare-based) standards for ozone, established in 2015, are set at 70 parts per billion.

EPA Temporary Enforcement Policy will End Aug. 31

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) temporary enforcement discretion policy for noncompliance with federal environmental laws and permits during the COVID-19 pandemic will terminate on Aug. 31, 2020. The agency's termination addendum reminds regulated entities that they are expected to make every effort to comply with environmental laws and permits, and document any instances of noncompliance in accordance with EPA's policy.

ACA Member Webinar: Washington State Safer Products Program

This one-hour webinar on Sept. 10 at 1:00 pm (EDT) will provide an overview of the Washington State Safer Products Program — the regulatory program to reduce toxic chemicals in consumer products administered by the state Department of Ecology. In May 2020, citing concerns over inadvertent Polychlorinated biphenyls (iPCBs), DOE added Paints, and over concerns with bisphenols, added Food Can coatings to the list of the program's priority consumer products DOE is expected to work over the next two years to identify alternatives for certain pigments that contain iPCBs and non-bisphenol coatings.
