December 2013 Panorama
PCA
The December 2013 issue of Porsche Panorama is winding its way to your mailbox, and will also be available in digital form on Dec. 15.
This issue's cover features an original painting by Nicolas Hunziker, which was commissioned to celebrate a very big year in Porsche racing history as well as a defining year for the 911. Inside, you'll find Bob Chapman's story on a 4.2-liter Cayman S — our first look at serious hot-rodding with Porsche's new-generation 9A1 flat six. Senior Editor Bill Oursler ably handles a profile on Derrick Walker, the team manager behind the Falken GT3 RSR's unexpected win at Petit Le Mans and a man with Porsche ties going back to Indy and the late Al Holbert.
Randy Wells introduces us to a PCA member who still enjoys driving his beautiful early 911S on the street, proving there is life after many years of PCA and SCCA racing. Peter Linsky tells us the story of a 1958 356 Speedster that lived a hard life as a track-worthy daily driver before its concours restoration. Finally, Ada Lee Halofsky checks out what may be the world's best 1974 914 1.8 — a Porsche so clean and original that its owner was literally clubbed with a checkbook at last summer's Porsche Parade. He didn't sell.
Of course, regular Panorama departments Art & Canvas, European Windows, Junior Driver, From the Regions, Street Talk, Tech Q&A, and zwART are all present and accounted for. We hope you'll enjoy the issue!More

Back to school: Training on Porsche's newest racing 911
By Cole Scrogham
It's not every day that Porsche announces a new racing car, specifically built for an all new racing series, so the new 991 GT America is already a special car by any standard. In order to help teams build some competency on the GT America, Porsche Motorsport attempted an exercise that has not been done since the 2000 season — inviting team members to an official training session, which immediately followed the Petit LeMans race in October. Any opportunity to visit the Porsche Training Center in Atlanta is one not to miss, so when Porsche Motorsport North America offered this opportunity, my name was on the list.More
