The Goshen News

Dealers — Get unlimited online training for your employees
The RV Learning Center
Dealers can get unlimited online training for their employees through a subscription from the Distance Learning Network, a partnership between the RV Learning Center and the Florida RV Trade Association that provides more than 50 training sessions, coursework reviews and test preparation sections. "Because it's delivered right to your dealership, it's extremely cost effective training, and that's important, since dealerships will have more employees to train as the economy improves," says FRVTA Executive Director Lance Wilson. This is the eighth consecutive year that the RV Learning Center and FRVTA have partnered to provide this resource to dealers.

CFPB's response to Congress on indirect financing raises more questions
CFPB Monitor
The CFPB recently responded to a letter from 35 U.S. House members questioning the manner in which the agency developed recent guidance regarding indirect vehicle financing. The letter took issue with the CFPB's "initiating a process without a public hearing, without public comment, and without releasing the data, methodology or analysis it relied upon to support such an important change in policy." The CFPB's response left many questions unanswered, according to one industry analyst. On its decision to issue the indirect auto lending bulletin without public comment, the CFPB simply responded that the Administrative Procedure Act "does not mandate notice and comment for general statements of policy, non-binding informational guidelines and interpretive memoranda."

Iowa gets tough on RVs with Montana registrations
The Des Moines Register
Iowans who buy expensive motorhomes and want to dodge state taxes have lost their Montana tax haven. Lawyers from Big Sky Country have publicized Montana since the 1990s as a place for out-of-state residents to set up a shell company and register an RV under the firm's name to avoid paying millions of dollars of taxes in Iowa and other states. Montana residents do not pay general sales taxes. But a crackdown has begun in Iowa under legislation signed in June by Gov. Terry Branstad.

RV for newbies: Fun and fellowship of life on the road
USA Today
USA Today reporter Jayne O'Donnell's first trip in an RV is a 1,400-mile road trip with six rowdy softball players. The most important lesson she learns is that, above all else, RVers stick together. Thank God, because there are countless switches, valves and buttons to decipher and extremely large turning radiuses with her rolling condominium. Still, even though she can't get the fresh water to come out of the faucets or the "black water" to come out at the dumping station on the ride home, the whole experience is oddly relaxing. She can't wait to do it again.

Sales of RVs in Michigan through May this year are up strongly over a pretty good 2012 at the state's 90 dealerships. They sold 383 typically more costly motorhomes, up 36.3 percent over a year earlier.
