RVDA to honor Quality Circle Award recipients during reception

RVDA will honor 25 brands built by 12 manufacturers with its Quality Circle Award during the RVDA Members Reception on Monday, November 29, just prior to the opening of the National RV Trade Show in Louisville. The reception will be held in the Crowne “C” Ballroom of the Crowne Plaza in Louisville and will run from 5 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. The manufacturers achieved top scores in the association’s 17th annual Dealer Satisfaction Index survey. RV industry in region remains despite recession

RV maker Fleetwood Enterprises, under founder John Crean's leadership, famously avoided debt for decades knowing there would be dips in the road ahead. "That's the same vision that we have here," said Scott Degnan, vice president of sales and marketing for MVP RV who worked for Fleetwood starting in 1987. "We're only going to grow when we can afford to with cash." It's a business plan that the company also wants to see its dealers follow. More

Jim Summers memorial service set for November 22

A memorial service for former RVDA Executive Vice President Jim Summers is scheduled for Monday, November 22, in Columbia, SC. Summers, who died October 3, led RVDA through the gas crisis of the 1970s and played a key role in the founding of the American Recreation Coalition in the early 1980s. He was elected to the RV/MH Hall of Fame in 2002. RVDA annually presents the James B. Summers Award in his honor to a distinguished dealer. More

A couple of weeks ago, back when most every politician in this state was embroiled in an election campaign, Alabama governor Bob Riley was enjoying a walk in the park. Specifically, he was at Lake Guntersville State Park having a delightful time, enjoying the scenery. It wasn’t, however, all fun and games. Several Florida RV parks and resorts that cater to snowbirds are reporting stronger advance bookings for the upcoming winter season than last year at this time, according to an informal survey of private park operators. Florida's Association of RV Parks & Campgrounds, based in Tallahassee, says many parks should rebound from the slower summer faced in the wake of the Gulf oil spill. More

To increase the value of Go RVing advertising leads to dealers and help users generate more sales, Go RVing has developed a new leads prioritization system. This new Leads-Plus Program, to be launched in 2011, will deliver more highly qualified leads categorized by RV purchase likelihood, helping dealers, campgrounds and manufacturers follow up more efficiently and effectively. A study of nearly 6,000 consumers who contacted Go RVing for information between 2007 and 2009 has provided scientific data about the most influential predictors in turning an information-seeker into an RV owner.
