As 2015 comes to a close, SIP would like to wish its members, partners and other industry professionals a safe and happy holiday season. As we reflect on the past year for the industry, we would like to provide the readers of the SIPpost a look at the most accessed articles from the year. Our regular publication will resume Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2016.

From July 14: In 2010, Steve Jobs famously wrote a pages-long manifesto about why he would not allow Adobe Flash to work on Apple mobile devices. "We don't want to reduce the reliability and security of our iPhones, iPods, and iPads by adding Flash," the Apple CEO firmly stated. Five years later, further clues backing up Jobs' security warning continue to persist. Now, Facebook's new chief security officer, Alex Stamos, has stated publicly that he wants to see Adobe end Flash once and for all.

From April 21: More than half of Australia's biggest companies will "disappear" from Google on mobile devices as the US technology giant changes the way it ranks searches.
Google will prioritize companies that have "mobile-friendly" websites when people use the search engine on their smartphones or tablet computers.
Google says businesses with desktop-only sites will still appear in searches but they will be ranked lower then those tailored for mobile use.

From Jan. 27: WhatsApp has launched their first web client, allowing desktop and mobile users to use the cross-platform messaging service directly from their Web browser.

"Today, for the first time, millions of you will have the ability to use WhatsApp on your web browser. Our web client is simply an extension of your phone: the web browser mirrors conversations and messages from your mobile device — this means all of your messages still live on your phone."

From Oct. 13: Bob McConnell, a retired engineer, set up a new wireless router in his home this year to get faster Internet speeds. Instead, he got the opposite, with his iPad often getting no wireless connection in his bedroom.
For days, he tinkered with the router's settings, but couldn't figure out a fix. "It was totally ruining my life," said Mr. McConnell, who lives in a condominium building in Kirkland, Wash. "Things would work, and then the next morning they wouldn’t work again."

It's really easy to get caught up in the mobile craze right now and fixate on smartphones and other devices apart from the PC. With the cloud starting to kill off server space in offices, some might be forgiven for starting to think that the PC is next on the chopping block.
