SLA received 135 education session proposals for SLA2021, ensuring that conference attendees will have plenty of learning opportunities from which to choose. The next step in the process is a member review of the proposals to determine which sessions will be presented. Details will be shared later this week.

Penn State Launches Open-Access Journal of Medicine

Penn State University Libraries’ Open Publishing unit recently published the first issue of the Penn State Journal of Medicine. All of the content in the peer-reviewed journal is edited by medical students in the Penn State College of Medicine and published open access, meaning it is freely available under a Creative Commons license.

The Long Road to Electronic Records Management

Office of Management and Budget Memo M-19-21 requires all federal agencies to move to fully electronic records management by the end of 2022. Issued in June 2019, M-19-21 also instructs the National Archives and Records Administration to stop accepting paper records after Dec. 31 of next year — giving agencies added incentive to hit the deadline.
