SNA 2015 Educational Sessions to Feature 10 Leading Industry Experts
The Southern Nursery Association (SNA) has announced the lineup of speakers for SNA 2015 Educational Sessions. These sessions, presented by the Georgia Green Industry Association, will be held on Wednesday, July 22 and Thursday, July 23, during SNA 2015, at Atlanta's Georgia International Convention Center (GICC). This year's sessions, featuring top industry experts, will cover topics on hiring, collections, breeding, plant control, wireless water sensors, free resources and more.

Call for Titles Deadline Extended to Monday, May 11
The 60th Annual SNA Research Conference, hosted by the Southern Nursery Association, will be held July 21-22, 2015, in conjunction with SNA 2015, at the Georgia International Convention Center, Atlanta. This two-day event will feature the best in horticultural research. All industry researchers are invited to participate in this conference by submitting your title(s) by May 11, 2015, and your paper(s) by June 15. For more details visit the SNA WEBSITE. Only 3 Weeks Remaining to Apply for the Sidney B. Meadows Scholarship!
The scholarship application process is now open for the 2015 scholarship awards. All eligible students are encouraged to apply. Scholarships are awarded, through a competitive process, administered by a selection committee based on academics, character, determination, probability of a career in horticulture, and financial need. In 2014, twelve $1,500 scholarships were awarded, totaling $18,000. Deadline for submission is May 29, 2015. Selections will be made by July 1, and recipients will be notified soon thereafter. $20,000 in Scholarships Available for Horticulture Students Through HRI
The Horticultural Research Institute (HRI) is pleased to announce it is accepting scholarship applications for the 2015-2016 school year. These scholarships are made possible by seven special HRI endowment funds that aid students who are seeking a lifelong career in horticulture. HRI and its member firms consider graduating students in horticulture to be the lifeblood of the green industry. Applications must be completed using the HRI online application form. 2014/2015 IR-4 Ornamental Horticulture Program Survey
Dr. Charles Gilliam is asking for your help in responding to the IR-4 survey that they are conducting in preparation for the 2015 IR-4 ornamental workshop that will be held in October. They are asking researchers to send this survey out to their grower community so that we can get feedback in time for priority setting. The link to the survey can be found here.

Industry Leader Robert Paul Warhurts, Founder of Merrifield Garden Center, Passed Away on April 29 at 76
On Wednesday, April 29, 2015, Robert Paul "Bob" Warhurst, 76, passed away at his home in Fairfax, Virginia, after a long battle with cancer. On the last full day of his life, Bob was surrounded by family and friends before he passed peacefully early the next morning under the care of Hospice. Bob Warhurst was the co-owner and co-founder of Merrifield Garden Center, a large garden center, nursery and landscaping company with three locations in Northern Virginia. Bob started the garden center in 1971 with his good friend and neighbor Buddy Williams.
