FNGLA Landscape Awards

2014 Award–winning landscape projects will be showcased on the main stage at The Landscape Show in Orlando. All entries will be judged by a panel of distinguished industry jurists and award winners will be honored at the show and four higher-level "special recognition" awards will be revealed. Submit your very best landscape projects as this is a grand opportunity for FNGLA to help promote and position your landscape firm as one the "best of the best" our professional industry has to offer! Projects must be submitted by June 27. The cost to submit a project for the program is $145 for FNGLA members and $200 for non-FNGLA members. The FNGLA Landscape Awards Program was established in 1970 to recognize landscape excellence in Florida. Forth-four years later, FNGLA is still celebrating "the best of the best!"
GGIA Annual Round Up Announced

The Annual GGIA Round Up will take place on Saturday, Oct. 25 from 6 p.m.-9 p.m. in Athens, GA, at the beautiful Flinchum's Phoenix, just outside of town at the intersection of Milledge Ave and Whitehall Rd. This annual fund raising event was created for two purposes. First and foremost, it is a fundraising event which benefits the Partnership in Sustainability Program (PISP). Second, it allows us to thank the companies and individuals who support GGIA through their generous donations. As an added bonus, The Round-Up offers us the chance to visit in a relaxed atmosphere, have fun, and network with those who support the work of GGIA.

MNLA Member Larry Ritter Passes Away
We are saddened by the sudden passing of MLNA member, Larry Ritter of Ritter Greenhouses in Bridgeton, MO. Mr. Ritter passed away on Monday evening June 9 after a brief hospital stay. Our deepest sympathy to Christine, Scott and the Ritter Greenhouse Team.

A campaign to cultivate gardeners

The FBI's Weapons of Mass Destruction Directorate (WMDD) started an initiative to raise awareness among retailers of castor seeds and rosary pea seeds of suspicious activity that could represent illicit use of the seeds and its toxins, ricin and abrin. While many physical retail locations, such as retail garden centers, may not sell these products, customers may still inquire about their availability, meaning it's important that all perceived sources of castor seeds and rosary pea seeds be aware of the potential threat of these products and what to do if they encounter something suspicious.
