In fact, he doesn’t even charge his patients, mainly because they can’t afford it.
Day after day, Hunt and his team from JPS Health Network and Acclaim Street Medicine go out and treat Fort Worth’s homeless.

San Antonio health care nonprofit spending nearly $130M for regional health equity

San Antonio nonprofit Methodist Healthcare Ministries of South Texas, Inc. said on June 7 it is investing $129.9 million this year to advance health equity across South Texas through direct services, development of community partnerships and advocacy.
According to a news release, MHMST’s funding for 2022 represents an increase of 14.2% from 2021 as the nonprofit strives to help uninsured people across its 74-county service area.

Dallas hospitals, organizations work to implement mental health tools
Community Impact
Hospitals, organizations and school districts near the Lake Highlands and Lakewood areas of Dallas are working to reduce deaths by suicide through wide-reaching screening tools.
According to Parkland Health data, anywhere from about 41,000-45,000 screenings are conducted each month between its primary care and emergency departments. Positivity rate of suicide risk is typically around 2%-3% in primary care settings and around 7% in the hospital.

Texas reports first case of monkeypox, but officials say it poses little risk to the public

Texas health officials said recently they have identified the first case of monkeypox in the state this year, but noted the illness does not currently present a risk to the general public.
The case was identified in a Dallas County resident who recently traveled internationally, according to the Texas Department of State Health Services. The department is working with Dallas County Health and Human Services and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to investigate the case.

Texas health care providers finding innovative ways to secure RNs

Pandemic related stressors led to an unprecedented number of health care professionals leaving the industry over the past 2 years and hospitals, nursing facilities, and other health care providers across Texas have been developing innovative ways to attract and retain registered nurses. Texas requires hospitals to form staffing committees to develop plans and policies to direct the implementation of optimal staffing practices.
