Ronaldo Luna has been included in Marquis Who's Who on the basis of his current reference value. Luna has worked as the professor and chair of civil engineering at Saint Louis University since 2014. He was recognized as the Outstanding Professional Engineer in Higher Education by the Missouri Society of Professional Engineers in 2017.

Members of the Columbia-Willamette Sigma Xi Chapter in Oregon attended the American Association for the Advancement of Science–Pacific Division’s Annual Meeting earlier this month at California State Polytechnic University in Pomona, California. Brie Tripp, a PhD student in biology education at Portland State University, won the first place award for the best presentation in the Pacific Division's Education Section. Tetiana Korzun received an honorable mention award in the Division's Cell and Molecular Biology Section while Emmanuel Abdul presented a poster about nanomaterials. Chapter member Amelia J. Ahern-Rindell gave a talk at the meeting's Symposium on the Practice, Communication, and Ethics of Interdisciplinary Research, which was organized by Sigma Xi members. READ MORE

The Sigma Xi Annual Meeting program committee extended the deadline to July 9 so that researchers worldwide may submit abstracts for oral and poster presentations, panel discussions, or workshops reporting on the methodologies, applications, and ethics of big data across research disciplines. Abstracts are invited in the following categories: big data in biology and medicine; big data in physics and astronomy; big data in climate, energy and the environment; communicating science in the era of big data; and ethics and the responsible use of data. Events will take place October 26–28 at the Hyatt Regency San Francisco Airport in California.
