On Tuesday, January 10, 2023, the American Institute of Architects New Jersey Chapter installed its 2023 Board of Trustees for a one-year term.
AIA NJ’s new Strategic Councilor, Verity Frizzell, FAIA, conducted the installation during the first board meeting in 2023, which was held virtually.

Clarke Caton Hintz designs Rowing Center for Riverside County Park

John D.S. Hatch, FAIA, LEED AP, Principal at Clarke Caton Hintz, recently spoke at the ribbon cutting for the new Bergen County Rowing Center in Riverside County Park on the Passaic River. This unique facility in Lyndhurst, NJ was developed to meet the growing demand for public access to Bergen County waterfronts and rowing activities.

Bob Iamello, AIA, of AIA Jersey Shore, was for honored his hard work representing Oceanport Wolf Hill School as the Clerk of the Works. His project management decisions saved the school district / Board of Education thousands of dollars. The ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Media Center and Cafeteria included a plaque with his name at the entry.

US commercial buildings decreased energy use intensity from 2012 to 2018

The recently released 2018 Commercial Buildings Energy Consumption Survey by the U.S. Energy Information Administration found that the total floorspace in commercial buildings has increased but energy consumption has not, compared with the last survey analyzing the landscape in 2012.
This difference indicates that the consumption per square foot (energy intensity) has decreased, which means that its efficiency has likely increased.
