On Friday, June 3 rd , 2022, the South Jersey section of the American Institute of Architects New Jersey Chapter held a spaghetti marshmallow challenge with the Boys and Girls Club of Atlantic City at their teen center at 317 N. Pennsylvania Avenue. As part of their mission to promote architecture through education, advocacy and service, Several AIA SJ members came out to volunteer their time and guide teams through the design challenge.

SOSH Architects has announced the promotion of Michael Salerno, AIA, to Associate. Michael is the 2022 President of AIA South Jersey. Mr. Salerno started with SOSH as an intern and has since grown into a talented leader at the firm.

The development site is located at 219 West 5th Street in Bayonne and comprises a 2.34-acre assemblage of land that once served as a solid waste management site.

The Bayonne Planning Board has granted preliminary approvals for developers to construct what will be the largest mixed-use complex in the New Jersey waterfront city. Known as Peninsula at Bayonne Harbor, the development will comprise 1,250 residential units, 10,000 square feet of retail space, parking for 788 vehicles, a landscaped public park, and a waterfront promenade.

World's largest commercial Living Building opens in Portland, Oregon

he world’s largest commercial Living Building recently opened in Portland, Oregon. The PAE Living Building, a five-story, 58,000 sf mixed-use structure, is also the first developer-driven Living Building. The Living Building Challenge is the most stringent green building certification process that exists today, according to a news release from ZGF Architects, the building’s design firm. “The building uses less energy, water, and material than comparable buildings while delivering superior levels of occupant comfort and productivity,” the release says.
